The Hari's Anniversary Trip - Part 6.

October 2011

Tuesday 4th.

Day 7

We were moving to the Griya Santrian in Sanur today.
For breakfast we grabbed a couple of cabs down to Zanzibar and afterwards Josh, Shell and I were going to whizz back to Garlic Lane and check out the things they had missed out on yesterday. I was hoping to catch Julie today too and grab some more Nike workout shorts from Ketuts for the boys (hard to beat at $3.00 a pop).

These 3 photo's brought to mind the Reservoir Dogs intro :0)

Pagi Hari's ! Gotta love those Bali smiles.

One of the reasons I will keep coming back the "best " banana pancakes so far.
It's the cinnamon that makes them I think.
(For goodness sake! Take the photo before you start scoofing woman!)

                                                                                     Wonderful drinks also
It was Darien's turn to feel a bit average today. He maybe got a little confused whilst ordering and ended up with 2 muesli type dishes. A decision he and Luke were to later regret when he lost the lot later in their room at the Griya. Poor Baby, he was down and out for the rest of the day.

No smiles for the camera today

So the boys headed back to the Villa Alam to chill and finish packing whilst we 3 got some bargains in Garlic Lane. I picked up some pandora sterling silver charms off a guy for a friends request. I bargained pretty hard for these and got 6 for around $25 I think from memory, I don't know much about pandora charms but a bargain apparently.

Julie still wasn't around so I missed her this trip..bugga! She is a wonderful smiling woman who I met a few trips ago and we hit it off straight away. If there is anything I want or need from the stalls she's the one I go and see and she can put her hands on it for me without any hassle. I like to help her large family out too.
We got back to the villa and moved out ..onward to Sanur. We got the free transfer from the Villa and Kadek had wrangled it so he was our driver. He couldn't wait to hear all about my misadventures with Ketut yesterday and I didn't mind telling either.

It was really good to catch up with him again and hear a few stories about what he had been up to. He's a bit of a lover boy our Kadek.

On the way to the Griya the boys spotted a music store (name escapes me at the mo) they had visited before and pulled over so they could check it out again. We girls stayed in the van to chat with Kadek . Nice guitars here , Darien had purchased his 4 string acoustic bass there on a previous trip. Apparently there was a pretty awesome carved big double bass here.
We'll see Kadek again as he's a lovely friendly guy and the van is great for a group.

                                                                Approaching reception.

We checked into the Griya and The Hari's had their suite located toward the rear of the property. The boys and I originally had a couple of garden rooms booked but on check in ...'they were very happy to inform us that we had been upgraded ' Great! (but wait sometimes there's a catch) My room wouldn't be available until 7pm darn!

                                                                            A garden wing room

At this point Sarah one of our neighbours and new Bali convert, from back home (they had been in Ubud and Sanur) found us in the lobby. Followed shortly by Geri , relaxed and dare I say serene (naaaaaah) but more so than usual. Woohoo it was wonderful to see their lovely smiling faces, again, since the last time I had was when I was waving them off from our street 2 days prior to my departure.

The boys room was going to be a little while too so they went back to Geri's room which wasn't far from ours in the newly renovated upfront block.
By the time I got there, after finishing at reception my 2 were lying back on the double bed and chilling whilst Geri, Sarah and the lovely Shaz were busying themselves with their recent purchases. It was great to hear some of what they had been up to. All 3 have been bitten by the Bali Bug Big Time! Hehe love it and I'm happy to take full responsibility :0) For Geri and Shaz anyway.

Josh chilling on the lounges upfront at the Griya a very nice spot.

The boys and I then went and checked out the beach and found the Hari's there and we settled down  for a drink and a couple of pizza's from their wood oven.
Everyone headed off to their rooms (it was at this point Daz revisited the mornings menu :0(  ). I had a few hours to kill until my room was ready so I went for a wander along the beach path checking out all the places I had only had the pleasure of reading about before.

On returning I settled on one of the beach lounges and watched the antics of about 6 dogs having a wonderful game on the beach and in the sea. Funny how the top dog was the smallest white little cutie. I got to talking to his person later and she had rescued 3 of them and had brought them back from dire straits. Fantastic!

One of the beachfront entrances. Memories of  the 'Be confindent Atreyu'
moment from 'The Never ending Story' .

Me, Luke and the Hari's wandered out the roadside entrance of the Griya to Mona Lisa's for dinner. For a meal that none of us enjoyed unfortunately. Which was another surprise because I read such good things about this restaurant all the time.

The sort of behaviour you can expect when no alcohol is offered on the menu.

The guys both ordered the steak which had come from a very hard working beast. It was unchewable and though we didn't make a fuss the staff were very disappointed when they saw that it had been left . When we received the bill we found they hadn't been charged for them which I thought was commendable.

Mine and Shells seafood dishes weren't too inspiring either.

Another one that proves that it is definitely different strokes for different folks. Just beer and soft drinks on the menu here too. I was disappointed as, of the long list of restaurants in Sanur I had to try. On our first night I had managed to choose a dud. Ah well I got over it soon enough.

Everyone went home and I sat on Geri and Co's porch for a chat. They were off home in the morning after having another wonderful time in Bali. They had enjoyed the cooking class at the Griya very much that pagi  and had eaten most of their meals at the hotel during their stay and had loved it.

There was a band playing that night in the hotel and I laid awake for about an hour until they finished for the night. I'm sure one of the speakers must of been next to my balcony...geez it was loud. I wouldn't of been able to hear the television if it had been on. I enquired the next morning if the band was to appear again during my stay ...thankfully it wasn't . But that wasn't to be the end of my noise problems at the Griya.

Selamat Malam from the Griya Santrian
