'The Hari's' Anniversary Trip. Part 8

October 2011'

Thursday 6th. + Friday 7th.

Day 9 + 10

Well it was to be the last day for The Hari's and The Boys . They were off home and the moment they arrived my Husband was going to leave on the out going flight to meet me in Bali for 4 nights. We were going to spend them at the Bayshore Villa's in Candidasa. Where we had never had the pleasure.

A good plan all round I thought eliminating the need for a pet or house sitter with the guys doing the old switcharoo. My husband Rob would have a much needed short break and I would get to stay a little longer in Bali . Oh yeah, I can certainly come up with a good plan sometimes :0)

I felt pretty good this pagi considering my antics of the previous night.
No jalan jalan along the hot..hot beachfront though...too dehydrating and my brain and I didn't need that.

The Hari's and Luke decided to give Flapjacks a try for breakfast but Daz and I just stayed put and had a nice breakfast in the hotels restaurant.

It had rained most of the night... and what a beautiful fresh smell to wake up to.

Raking up the frangipani blooms after the rain. I wish I could boast that
kind of mess in my garden. Oh how I wish!

It turned out Flapjacks wasn't open for breakfast and they ended up at Flashbacks  for a big breakfast which was good, Luke took us there later for lunch and it was nice fresh food, though I over ordered again! I feel so wasteful when I do that. They had little vacation bungalows called "The Porch" out the back of the property which Luke liked the look of.

The Hari's went for another big discovery walk after they and the boys checked out of their rooms and left all the gear in my noisy abode.

Daz and I did sneak a movie in before the saws started and I tried to have a read on the balcony.
Maybe I was feeling some fallout from last nights Margherita mischeif after all, because once they got into cutting those stones again I had to get the hell out of there!

We spent some time chilling down at the beachfront. Then we  met up with the Hari's on their last afternoon. Shell was having her hair braided by the "Shifty Sisters" and Josh was minding the shopping on the beachside couches.
Josh and Shell grabbed a burger from the Griya menu, they were being picked up by Jack (or as it turned out Jack's proxy) at 5:00pm.
They wanted to make a last quick trip into Bagus Watches for those sunnies.
Then it was a marathon  27hr  trip home for them.

                           Ha Ha Ha (loved this)

Their first stop was  in Jakarta and transferring (it was a close call finding the connecting flight) for the trip home. Then a long road trip to country NSW from Sydney for pet "much missed family member" retrieval.
They had nothing but glowing reports for Garuda who treated them like royalty with blankets, pillows, newspapers, gift packs...what the!
Apparently the Jakarta airport had it's challenging moments on the flight over too with the lack of connecting flight info. and a few other Aussies in a quandry, following that guy in green (Josh) cos' he looks like he knows where he's going (he didn't :0)

I think Bali had been everything that Josh and Shell had hoped it would be. Relaxing, romantic, gastronomic, fun, adventurous, indulgent, luxurious (unfortunately it was bilious and painful for Josh at times) but they left with lots of fond memories.  I was so rapt that yet more of my friends had fallen for Bali big time .

The boys and I were planning on Charming for dinner prior to their transfer to the airport but we left our run too late (we watched the latest X Men movie which was great) so we stayed put and had dinner at the hotel. Service was great, atmosphere was great, food ok.

Of the 6 , I finally got a photo of Luke with his eyes open. Love you guys and I'll see you again soon .

Jack was there to pick them up and deliver them safely to the airport for me.
Matur suksme Jack and see you again tomorrow for my transfer.

I had booked the exit row seats for their Virgin night flight, which I have found makes all the difference.
I had never slept on one of these 1:10 am trips home until Rob and I by luck Aced them on our last holiday from a smiling Balinese dude at checkin.
I can handle the normal in your face, claustrophobic, bum numbing seats on the day flight at the beginning of our adventure.
God knows what it is with my luck though, always getting the seat where the person in front puts their chair in recline (during the day) rendering it almost impossible to put my tray down  and they're always a bouncer and wriggler too! I just come to expect it now, it happens without fail. I'm pretty good at catching a vodka whilst it leaps a few inches off the tray now during another seat spasm ....it keeps me occupied :0]
But on the way home in the early hours and the holiday's over baby.... a girl could do with a little comfort, please (or you may live to regret it :0).

The Boy's flight home was good and uneventful , hard to complain about the direct 4.5 hr flight to and from Adelaide ( Oh wait I think I just might have). It's definitely worth putting up with all those pesky Virgin discomforts to land you in Bali on the quick direct flight (gift bags!! sheesh I wish) .

Left to my own devices back at the Griya I had a bit of a movie marathon watching 4 movies back to back. Yes I know absolute footloose and reckless behavior.
As usual we didn't have a problem with any of the discs that came from Jimmys Discs in Padma st.
Jimmy is Jacks older brother and Jack now has his own DVD store in Garlic lane called Jacky's Discs.
It's great to see he is doing so well with his touring business and now his store. He definitely put in the hard yards working on the cruise ships for 12 yrs and has now married his childhood sweetheart and they have a beautiful little baby girl.
I finally got off to sleep after keeping updated of Luke and Daz's happenings at the airport (via text), I could rest easy once they were signed and sealed ...the delivered part I couldn't wait up for.

Day 10

The curtains in my room did a great job at darkening it, I woke up a little later than usual.

My main man was arriving in the sian, and another adventure was afoot.
A bit of a walk in the pagi along the beachfront and a splash and float about in the pool saw me ready to take it all on ...Bring it! I was ready to move on.

I took myself off to Hardy's again to get some "Rob" necessities, Coke, smokes, shavers and wandered about in the stores along this main drag. I didn't get much for myself apart from a couple of books from Periplus in the Hardy's complex. I had skipped breakfast and started to feel it so when I saw Gazpacho offered on the sandwich board outside Manik Organik they were talking my language.
It was very nice this little organic cafe and I felt recharged afterward.

Jack was due to pick me up at 3 and we were going together to pick up Rob at the airport then on to Candidasa.

The beautiful view from my balcony, look at the height of those
                                                                          Frangipani trees, absolutely beautiful.

Goodbye noisy/ teeth rattlin' room. I hung out at the Wicked Parrot (nice Marg's and lumpia ) where I read one of the books I'd bought about a woman's adventures in Bali..loving it.
Then I went down to the  Griya beach front where I caught up with a couple I had met a few times whilst floating around in the pool.
It was lovely chatting to the wife who was worried about her spouse who had been gone for hours buying some art. When he showed up he wasn't too impressed he couldn't get into the room and let her and all the other beach goers  know all about it ...very uncool Dude.
I was glad it was Jack time.

Hiya Jack, you lovely smiling man you.  Time to get me out of here. He asked how I had enjoyed my time at the Griya Santrian and I said I had mixed feelings about it .
He said " Hmmmm it  is an older hotel, owned by a local family and that's why they're older not so happy or friendly staff". I didn't ask how he picked up on that but he did. Maybe he had spent more time in the foyer than I thought he had.

The 2 days I'd spent in Sanur definitely wasn't enough and I hadn't given it enough of a chance.
I think we'll revisit it further down the track when my wander lust and need for excitement in Bali settles down a bit, but for now when I visit I can't sit still. We will probably leave Sanur for absolute chill  time possibly.

Jack and I were a little late picking up Rob. He was out of the airport in a flash.
He'd had some misgivings about going it alone without his Tour Director but it was a breeze.

He actually rang us wondering where we were and we said we'd meet him at the Circle K at the airport ...shame he chose the one near the departures instead of the arrivals.

It has been a bit of long standing joke with Rob and I that Jack prefers to hug him more than me.
He just seems a sucker for those big Mr. Rob bear hugs. (just between you, me and the mailman that rankles me a little as I'm a Big hugger and Rob knows it :0} )

Sooo somewhere along the line I had started this conversation up 'I wonder who will get the first Rob hug me or Jack'. I'd had this dialogue with both of them. So when we had parked and not found him at the designated spot ..... The horses were out of the gate and we were off and running in opposite directions, looking for that hug.
Jack did have the home team advantage and the fact I needed to seek out a toilet didn't help my side. Jack 1 - Me 0 (for now). I grabbed an aqua from the Circle K and a couple Bintangs for the Mr. and we were off to Candidasa.
About a 90 minute drive from memory and it was dark by the time we got there.
Bye Jack and see you for our airport transfer in a few days time after we've had a look around Candidasa, tried out some of the restaurants, swam, fished and relaxed.
I was really looking forward to our stay here as I'd yet again read so many positive reports about it on the forum. Brad the owner was obviously a favorite and even had a couple of the villas up for sale (which we thought was worth looking in to).

We got shown our room which was Villa #1 right on the beach front, great location but this holiday the 4 accommodations had gotten progressively worse and this one slid even further down the scale.

I was disappointed the moment we crossed the threshold. I truly tried not to show it but Rob knew.
Probably because he was feeling it too. Invest in this you've got to be joking!

But Hey we were in Bali and looking to have a great time just me and my man, just living and loving it  :0)
